Reflect

It’s been a long time since I wrote my last blog or visited my easel. In that time, I truly felt the emptiness, and it allowed me to realise the depth these activities add to my life.

Whilst distant from doing what I enjoy, I found it hard to connect with myself. Saying that means I struggled to make time for reflection. Connecting with myself means I am reflecting—building a stronger relationship with who I am. And who is closer to oneself than God (s.w.t.)?

Hence, at some points, my close connection with God felt distant. Yet it only takes a brushstroke or a word to light that inner candle—the light that responds when I seek its guidance.

It’s simply the exercise of talking to God (s.w.t.). Not only about the issues I find problematic, but also about the moments that help me grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Even as I type this, I can feel a ray of sunlight feeding me knowledge—helping me understand my existence, my purpose, and my role.

My reflections lift me up. I feel like a fish lost in the ocean’s depths; I could wait, or I could try to swim up. For if I swim up, I am exposed to the sunshine that keeps my vibrant colours alive! God has plenty of love to share—discover how you make that connection, and watch your vibrancy speak.

Some inspirational experiences I’ve come across include simple walks or adventurous hikes, baking, doodling in a notebook or on a digital tablet, gardening or fruit picking, watching the sunset, or sinking your feet into the sand… the list goes on.

A small dose of reflection time goes a long way. Even a monthly visit to your most enjoyed activity is all you need to light that inner candle!
